So disappointed and disturbed by the condition of the environment and severe neglect of the plant life. There were no butterflies because they could not thrive in an environment full of decaying and rotting plants. Whomever oversees this exhibit does not value the plants, flowers, or butterflies. Everything is dying or dead, there is no upkeep or cleanliness standard, the brick flooring is a serious hazard, and it appears that no one has tended to the garden or the exhibit in years. The outside and surrounding areas are just as bad, demonstrating that people in positions to oversee life do not value that which they are responsible for. I felt so bad for the plant life. My wife and I enjoyed a nice peaceful walk in a beautiful location. Amazing views of the inner most point of the bay, and the Santa Clara Valley.

A small but awesome garden. Perfect for bird and butterfly watching. I came in August and there were more birds than butterflies. Lots of hummingbirds, too. Parking was easy. I think it’s $6 per car. I bought the annual permit. Forgot how much I paid. Well worth the money. There is a free parking lot at Paseo Padre and Patterson but you need to walk about a mile to enter the park. The permit can be used in other east bay regional parks as well.
